The Resurrection of Brendan Smyth

Ulster Television just finished a fabulous documentary on Father Brendan Smyth, an prolific predator Irish priest who spent years in the United States.  He may have molested more than 100 children.

Helen McGonigle is to be applauded for her strength and bravery in telling her story.  In light of today’s hearing in Los Angeles about the release of thousands of pages of clergy abuse documents, Smyth’s story is even more relevant.  Why?  It’s not just Smyth’s abuse that is important – it is just as important to find out about the men who covered up for him.
